Map Gallery Overview
Showcase your talents!
GeoAlberta invites you to submit your maps to our Map Gallery competition. Maps are displayed throughout the conference then judged by a panel. Winners are announced on the last day of the conference and presented with some fantastic prizes! Participation in the Map Gallery competition is free! You do not need to be registered in the conference to show Western Canada your work.
Award categories
There are six categories for submission with trophies awarded for first through third place. The categories are:
- Best Student: Map completed as a part of a program or course at an educational institution. Poster submission.
- Best Private Sector (Industry): Map completed as an employee of a privately owned company. Poster submission.
- Best Public Sector (Government): Map completed as an employee of the government. Includes non-profit organizations. Poster submission.
- Best Web Map: Interactive map you developed and available on the internet.
- People’s Choice: As voted by those attending GeoAlberta 2010. All entries are eligible.
- Honourable Mention: Selected by judges. All entries are eligible.
Fantastic prizes
A number of fantastic prizes have already been donated and include a GPS unit from McElhanney Consulting Services and iPod Shuffle units from TERA Environmental Consultants. Keep reading here for updates on the prizes.
Submission details
You may enter as many maps as you wish. Please complete an online submission form for each map entered.
For Map Gallery poster submission:
- Please name your digital copy with YourName_Map#_GeoAB2010.pdf. PDF is the preferred digital file format. Uploading instructions will be provided to you once you complete the online submission form.
- Drop off your hardcopy map(s) at the GeoAlberta 2010 Conference Registration booth or mail your hardcopy to: Bart Hulshof, 2500 University Drive NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 1N4 to be received not later than Wednesday May 6, 2010.
For Best Web Map category:
Your web site must be operational from the date of online submission to the end of the GeoAlberta 2010 conference.
