Sessions with a maximum length of 3 hours are welcome (subject to change as the conference schedule is finalized) including questions and answers. Shorter sessions are also welcome where they do not fit into a 45 minute speaker session. Non-Commercial Presentations only. Sales promotions for products or services disguised as proposals will be declined.
A speed showcase is a 10 minute session where a presenter can showcase a tool, application or map based topic. There will be 4 sessions for each topic. This year’s topics are:
Please note there are no discounts offered on conference registration for the speed showcase. Prizes will be awarded for the audience favorite showcase in each topic.
Abstracts for all workshops and speed showcase will be reviewed and selected by the GeoAlberta Workshop Committee. There is strong competition, so a good abstract submission is important to help increase the chances of your abstract being selected. The GeoAlberta Workshop Committee will select abstract submissions using the following criteria:
Value of the Subject: The workshop or speed showcase scope and originality must be of interest to a significant number of conference attendees. Your abstract shall indicate which audience segment would be most interested in your presentation and what will be learned from the presentation. Ideally, your session will provide conference attendees with:
Quality: Abstracts will be reviewed for quality, originality, and innovation. They will be reviewed and ranked for acceptance and placement in the program.
Participating at GeoAlberta is a great way to connect with your peers and other subject-matter-experts working in similar industries, share knowledge in a face-to-face setting, and expand your network with colleagues from across the province. By presenting at GeoAlberta you have the opportunity to brand yourself as a thought leader in our profession.
If selected as a workshop presenter at GeoAlberta, the Conference will provide each primary presenter with a 50% discount on the conference registration. Your registration fee includes 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and breaks each day; access to other sessions and workshops throughout the conference and access to the vendor area. The Workshop Committee will work closely with you to ensure you have all of your needs met leading up the conference and during the two days in Calgary.
All accepted presenters must register for the conference prior to presenting.
