Session AbstractCrossing the Chasm: Saskatoon's Infrastructure Asset Management Approach The City of Saskatoon has recently implemented a new infrastructure asset management solution that integrates infrastructure asset information from engineering and drafting teams with corporate geospatial data. Similar to many other local government organizations, the City of Saskatoon utilizes a variety of software products (CAD/GIS) that do not traditionally integrate well with one another. As a result, spatial and attribute data was typically duplicated from one environment to another. A growing need existed to find a solution that could cross the CAD/GIS chasm to help increase data currency, reduce the need to duplicate information and ensure data quality, integrity and security are maintained. This case study details the architecture, technology and approach used by the City of Saskatoon Infrastructure Services Department to satisfy its infrastructure asset management requirements for public works, as well as, bridge the gap between engineering and GIS.
