Session AbstractAirborne Interferometric Radar Mapping Data Acquisition Key words: interferometric, radar, digital elevation model, topography Intermap Technologies of Calgary, Alberta is the world leader in airborne interferometric radar (IFSAR) mapping. Intermap currently operates 4 airborne IFSAR systems and will introduce two additional systems in 2006. These systems are used to populate Intermap’s national and regional data bases of digital elevation models and orthorectified radar imagery. Using these systems, Intermap recently completed IFSAR mapping of all of Great Britain; 230,000 square kilometres of detailed homogenous digital elevation and image mapping. The program, entirely conceived and executed by the private sector, is now being duplicated in Germany, Italy and the United States. These data bases are now in use for a wide range of applications, including emergency preparedness and response, flood mapping and modeling, landslip modeling, transportation and utility corridor modeling, 3-D scene visualization, topographic mapping, and many other applications. This presentation examines the data acquisition parameters for airborne IFSAR programs. This includes airborne positioning information, ground control and support, field logistics and management, and field data quality control.
