Session AbstractOvercoming the Obstacle of Engineering/GIS Data Integration A number of obstacles exist when attempting to integrate engineering data with traditional GIS repositories. Proprietary tools and an outdated view of data integration can negatively impact data quality, currency, process efficiency, data sharing and decision making. This presentation reviews the challenges encountered when attempting to integrate engineering data with GIS repositories and discusses the importance of addressing these challenges throughout the infrastructure lifecycle. Case studies are used to explore the possibilities, as well as, provide additional perspective and insight into strategies for addressing these challenges.
