Selection Criteria

Abstracts for all workshops and speed showcase will be reviewed and selected by the GeoAlberta Workshop Committee. There is strong competition, so a good abstract submission is important to help increase the chances of your abstract being selected. The GeoAlberta Workshop Committee will select abstract submissions using the following criteria:

Value of the Subject: The workshop or speed showcase scope and originality must be of interest to a significant number of conference attendees. Your abstract shall indicate which audience segment would be most interested in your presentation and what will be learned from the presentation. Ideally, your session will provide conference attendees with:

  • New skills, capabilities and techniques to apply to their work in the Geomatics and GIS Industry
  • Real-life examples of how others are implementing and using Geomatics and GIS in their own organizations to enable strategic and operational initiatives effectively
  • Exposure to cutting edge tools and insights into best practices that attendees can apply to their daily work

Quality: Abstracts will be reviewed for quality, originality, and innovation. They will be reviewed and ranked for acceptance and placement in the program.
